KS LINE International Co. Ltd. was founded as Cambodian-Japanese Partnership
in September 1997. The first time I came to Cambodia with a Japanese NGO
(
JHP) in August 1992. during UNTAC (
UNITED NATIONS TRANSITIONAL AUTHORITY IN CAMBODIA) in Cambodia.
In 1994, K's LINE ( company's name before it was changed to be KS LINE
International Co., Ltd.) was launched. The goal was that both Cambodian
and Japanese people can dvelop goods for equal trade. Our company started
to export black pepper from Sre Ambal to Japan.
Cambodia has a long history of civil war but after the general election
in 1993 the economic revival began in the country and that was a good time
for agricultural industries to grow. General elections of 1998 and 2003
were peacefully held and Cambodia joined ASEAN in 2002 and WTO in 2003.
With political life being more stable, the economy started to grow.and
develop.
There are still unsolved issues that exist in Cambodia, such UXO or mines
and unexploded shells -- it is said that there are a few million pieces
lying around in the country. These mines cause a lot of trouble to farmers.
Both Cambodian and other governments and NGOs are involved in making the
land safe for farming. Our company gave money and contributed to this action
of freeing the land of Cambodia from dangerous mines and saving lives of
farmers.
Our company's goal is to be a part of this long-term process of reviving
the agricultural industries of Cambodia.
